BOSSGP RACE REPORT – NÜRBURGRING 2025

The iconic Nürburgring played host to Round 2 of the 2025 BOSS GP Racing Series, delivering a weekend of high-speed drama, technical skill, and standout performances—including a commanding drive from Ireland’s own Paul O’Connell.

Representing HS Engineering with the support of Maxflo Motorsport, O’Connell impressed throughout the weekend in the FORMULA class. Against a competitive grid of GP2, Formula 2, and World Series machinery, the Limerick native demonstrated exceptional pace and consistency across both races, earning podium finishes and once again cementing his status as one of the fastest privateers in the paddock.

FORMULA Class Battles and a Rising Irish Star

While Latvian driver Harald Šlēgelmilhs dominated both races from the front, the true excitement unfolded further down the order. Fierce battles saw Italy’s Simone Colombo and Austria’s Michael Fischer trading positions lap after lap. Amid this, Paul O’Connell quietly executed a masterclass in racecraft, climbing the order with surgical precision.

In both heats, O’Connell kept pressure on the frontrunners, showcasing the balance and performance of his GP2/08 car, expertly prepared and run by the HS Engineering team. Cheered on by the Maxflo Motorsport team, Paul’s drive was a testament to the team’s focus on performance reliability and motorsport excellence.

In Race 1, O’Connell claimed third in class, joining Stefan Eisinger-Sewald and Andreas Fiedler on the FORMULA podium. In Race 2, a shifting track with light rain proved challenging, but O’Connell’s Nürburgring experience and mechanical sympathy once again paid dividends, finishing as the fastest FORMULA driver behind the dominant front three.

A Proud Weekend for Maxflo Motorsport

The FORMULA category remains the most closely contested in the BOSS GP field, and O’Connell’s podium results are all the more impressive in the context of fierce international competition. This result marks a significant milestone for Maxflo Motorsport, who continue to expand their presence in European motorsport, supporting grassroots talent and elite competitors alike. Paul’s performance underlines the value of engineering integrity, reliable components, and strong partnerships—the same principles Maxflo is known for off the track.

Looking Ahead

The next round of the championship heads to the Temple of Speed—Monza, where Maxflo Motorsport and Paul O’Connell will look to build on their Nürburgring success. With the championship heating up and performance margins razor-thin, every lap and every decision will count.

Maxflo Motorsport congratulates Paul and the HS Engineering team on an outstanding weekend and looks forward to the continued journey through the 2025 season.
